Bommer has the ability to export a filtered bill of materials. This is useful when you are trying to export a sub-selection of your BOM, for example: all parts from a specific vendor, or made with a specific process, or made out of a specific material or finish. You can tell Bommer to apply a filter to any kind of export, e.g. any BOM type, Export To setting, or any collection of properties. Read on to learn how to configure and apply a filter to your bill of materials export.
The Filter section in the “Export” command
The Export command has a section called Filter that lets you specify a filter to be applied when Bommer exports your bill of materials.
Checking Filter rows before export? will show a table that lets you define the conditions of the filter. Filter conditions consist of a property to inspect, an “operation” e.g. whether the value contains text, or is empty, and then a value to check for (for the “contains” operation).
Adding and deleting filter conditions
Using this table, you can add rows to specify conditions for your export filter. Press Add and then select a property, an operation, and enter a value if needed. You can add as many conditions as you need. When you press OK, Bommer will save out only the rows that match every condition defined within this table. As an example, the export with the filter described in the above screenshot would only include rows where the Part Name property contains Sensor. Bommer filter conditions are case insensitive, and empty rows (rows without a property or value) will be ignored.
To delete a row in the table, select it (so that it is highlighted in blue) and press the Delete button
Loading a saved filter
If you have saved a filter in Edit bill of materials, you can load that filter here as a starting point. Press the Load saved filter button to load the filter and replace the contents of your table.
Use the saved filter directly, or as a starting point to build your export filter. Note that changes to the filter here do not affect the saved filter. See Saving a filter in Edit bill of materials for more information on creating and managing saved filters.
