The "Export table image..." command is used to export an image containing a bill of materials table; this image can then be placed on your drawing sheets in order to include bill of materials data in your drawings. You can choose the properties and components to include; specify item numbers; adjust column widths and ordering; sort the data; change the font, font size, table spacing, and other formatting items; and/or combine similar items (e.g. mirrored parts or copied components). Once your table is set, Bommer lets you save and then immediately load the saved image; after which you can use Fusion 360's tools to position and scale that image.
Finding Bommer in the Drawing workspace
To get started, click on the "Export table image..." button. Once the window finishes loading, you will see a form similar to this:
Overview of the Export table image command
Properties to export
To reorder the properties in your table, you must delete the existing out of order properties and re-add them as described above.
Data table and toolbar
To get data into your bill of materials table, you must select one or more components from your drawing. You can do this by clicking the components in your feature tree; to select multiple components, hold down Ctrl or Shift before clicking. Once your components are selected, press Select in the Edit table image command; Bommer will load bill of materials data for those components and display them in the data table; it will also generate a preview of the table and display it in the Output section.
Renumber - This button will reassign item numbers sequentially (from #1) in the order displayed in the data table. This button respects the table sort order; e.g. if you sort by Part Name and then click Renumber, it will renumber according to the sorted order, not the original "natural" order.
Combine by - This button combines rows in the table that have the same value in a selected property. Quantity for combined rows is summed. This feature can be used to combine separate components into one line item, e.g. mirrored components or components modeled separately but that share the same ordered part number.
Reload Data - The reload data button will reload the BOM from the underlying data storage. If you update any component references while this window is open, use this button to pull in any pending changes.
Reset Form - This resets the form and all of its customizations to its default state. This will clear the data table even if items are selected in the Fusion 360 browser (press Select to restore the selected items).
Output
The output section displays a preview of the table image you are about to export and gives you controls over the font, font size, line width, and other visual attributes. You can use this section to customize the appearance before inserting the table onto your drawing sheet.
Font, Font Size - the first two options control the font and font size of the text in the table. These options can help you adapt to any documentation standard you may have in place for your organization.
Row Height - the next option controls the height of the rows in the table. 25px is the default, but this can be adjusted up or down to match your tastes.
Line thickness - this controls the thickness of the grid lines in the table. The default 1px is the thinnest that Bommer can represent, but you can increase this number to make the lines thicker.
Bottom Up / Top Down - the last button controls whether the table is oriented top-down or bottom-up. The text of the button represents the mode it will switch to if you click it, e.g. if it says "Bottom Up", your table is currently Top Down and clicking that button will vertically invert the table.
