The "Exclude?" property

Excluding components from your BOM

1. Open the  Edit bill of materials or  Edit part properties command.
   1. If you opened the Edit bill of materials command, find the part you want to exclude in the table (using the filters, or just expanding the table to the part)
   2. If you opened the Edit part properties command, select the part you want to edit in the Fusion 360 design tree
2. Find the "Exclude?" property.  By default, it'll be in the General tab.
3. Check the box.  If in the Edit bill of materials command, you should see the row disappear from view.  If the component is a subassembly and you are viewing a hierarchical BOM, Bommer will promote its children (more on that below).
4. Click OK.

To reverse this, use the "Show Hidden Components" setting in the table (click here for more info) to view the hidden row and uncheck the box.  You can also use the Edit part properties command (click here for more info) to edit the component.

Promoting children when excluding subassemblies

As mentioned above, Bommer will automatically promote children of excluded subassemblies.  Each promoted descendent will move up one level, and the quantities will be adjusted based on the quantity of subassembly in your BOM.  The net effect is that your subassembly will be present and visible in the Fusion 360 design tree, but your BOM will be built as if that subassembly is replaced with all of its components, which can be handy for organizing your parts within your design tree, and as a stand-in for part folders or groups within Fusion 360.
